Snakeation

This week, Mechayla and I coordinated to have a week of vacation for Spring Photography, but one theme has kept popping up again and again: snakes. This has happened so much so that we have dubbed this week our “snakeation” instead of vacation.

Our first encounter was with this black rat snake:

If you look closely, you will notice that this snake is missing an eye, it has an issue with the other eye, and it’s jaw is maligned. We posted this photo to a local wildlife group, and they advised that it is sick and suffering from a fungal disease. We were able to coordinate with the group and the state park rangers to have the snake picked up and put into rehab, so hopefully this fella is going to be okay now!

As maybe a karmic sign from the universe that we did a good thing by saving this snake (or maybe it’s just springtime and there are more snakes out), we continued to see snakes all week:
